A devastating fire engulfed at Dunwoody Station Apartment complex in Sandy Springs, GA (a suburb just outside of Atlanta) leaving a multitude of Indian families displaced on Saturday, June 6th 2015.

Due to a massive fire, the Dunwoody Station Apartments in Sandy Springs, GA sustained considerable fire, smoke and water damage. The apartment building had twenty eight families and more than 80% of the victims are Indian, mostly Telugu. The damage is extensive and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated. Everyone living in the complex has been evacuated safely; although, they have lost all of their belongings including passports, visa documents, valuables etc.

Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) Board and Executive Committee members (including Board Chairman Rajesh Jampala, Board Secretary Nagesh Doddaka, Board member Subbarao Maddali, President Vinay Maddineni, Vice President Venkat Meesala, Venky Gadde, Murali Boddu, Manoj Tatikonda), past board member Viju Chiluveru, Bharat Maddineni and Bala Narayana Madda went to the apartment complex to support the victims and talked to them to find out which immediate needs can be supported.

One common and major concern is the recovery of lost documentation like passport, visa and study documents. TAMA team got in touch with the Consulate General of India staff and we are glad to convey that they are very responsive and promised all the help needed to obtain the passport documentation.

TAMA team is also working to get advice from immigration attorneys about handling visa documentation.

With the help of TAMA volunteers, TAMA team is providing families with emotional support as well. TAMA humbly asks you for your generous support in assisting the families who have lost almost everything during this devastating incident. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small. Thanks to all the donors who already donated generously.
