Mahila Sadassu - 2011

TAMA celebratated International Womens’s Day with an interactive and entertaining Mahila Sadassu event on 12thMarch 2011 at Community Hall, Sharon-Springs Park, Cumming.

In keeping with the tradition of honoring women, that was flagged off in Mahila Sadassu 2010, who’ve been successful in their fields of interest while also providing their valuable contributions to TAMA and the community at large with their efforts, this year the honorees are Smt Padma Duggirala, Smt Srivalli Kondur, Smt Madhuri Puranam, Smt Madhavi Korrapati, Smt Manjusha Mamidipaka, Smt Prasoona Vempaty.

With TAMA’s Cultural Secretary Sandhya Yellapragada and Literary Secretary Murthy Rallapalli emceeing the event, songs by Manjusha Mamidipaka, Prasoona Vempaty, Sneha Chaturvedula, Navya Nuthivana, Monisha Rallapalli, Chaitanya and Mahesh kept the attendees entertained.

Speeches by President Sunil Katepalli, soliciting support from women and the community for all TAMA events and by Vice President Suresh Peddi, who in his inimitable style spoke eloquently about women and their importance in the society that turned out to be a hallmark of this event, were truly inspirational. 

Dr. Mano Naidu, who was invited as a key speaker to the event could not make it to the event but passed on her thoughts about the need of such events that were delivered at the event by Sandhya Yellapragada. Smt Jhansi Musunuri, was the other key speaker at the event and she shared her thoughts on what motivated her to start Sri Krishna Vilas Indian Cuisine and the importance of women in the upbringing of their children. She also emphasized that a strong will is what it takes for anybody, be it a woman or a man, to achieve success in life. 

To the make the event interactive and motivational, Sandhya Yellapragada reached out the members of the audience with a topic of - How to keep life organized and manage stress in the busy life of woman – and the audience shared their thoughts with a lot of enthusiasm. The event also boasted of a cooking contest that invited delicious dishes that were presented colorfully by the participants. After a careful observation Judges Jhansi Musunuri, Padma Duggirala, and Aprana Turaga awarded points to the judges based on the taste and presentation aspects. The first prize was given to Mrs. Shailaja Meesala (Semiya Upma with vegetables), second prize went to Mrs. Srivalli Maddi (Semiya Kajjikayalu), and third was awarded to Mrs. Swapna Kommeni (Semiya Upma).

TAMA General Secretary Mahesh Pawar and Events Secretary King Koduru arranged a game of Bingo for the audience that upped the fun quotient considerably.
