May 2005 sAhiti sadassu - A Successful event - Image Gallery

P5150069TAMA conducted sAhiti sadassu on May 15th, 2005. About 30 members participated in this event. It is very encouraging fact that kids also are participating in these events.

The sadassu started with the a song from "AMdhra kAhaLi" CD released by "Silicon Andhra" organization. It is a collection of songs by SrI devulapalli kRshNa sAstri gAru. Everyone just loved the songs.

Some of the members even requested for the CD copies. Complete Report of this event can be found on Literary Section of this website.

The next item was chi.Aravind's naration of famous "Avu puli" katha. It was well received and it reflects the hard work of his parents in passing on the telugu language and culture to the next
generation. Aravind also rendered some poems from "KrishNa SatakaM".  Kudos to Aravind and his parents.

Sri Turaga Gopal presented the ever green "SrI nagajA tanayaM" hari katha from the movie "vAgdAnaM".  It is very difficult to even pronounce some of the lines in that song. Gopal did a great Job.

It was nice of him to have selected a different and off beat item, which was apt for the occassion.

SrI kAsyapa and Smt. AruNa presented few poems written by kasyapa's grand father, who is also a freedom fighter. The subject was about "palanATi paurushaM". The poems are true gems and the tune given by kAsyapa and AruNa enhanced to beauty of the poems.

Smt. Aruna, who is a classical singer, also presented "muddugArE yasOda" annamAcArya song. It was simply great.

Sri OlETi rAvu gAru brought the humor angle to the event with his story kAru kashTAlu. It evoked instant humor and everone enjoyed it.

Sri ramesh duvvUri read an article written by "SrI koDavaTigaMTi rOhiNI prasAd" (son of famous telugu writer SrI koDavaTigaMTi kuTuMbarAvu gAru). It is about how to conduct successful telugu cultural programs. It is very interesting and has great guidelines for all pravAsa aMdhrulu. Thanks to ramesh for bringing this article.

Sri ramEsh duvvUri and Smt. SEshu kumAri also presneted few private songs which were well received. Their son SrikrishNa renedered a poem that was also well received.

Phani presented Dr.vENu Dasigi's kavita (written 30 years ago by vENu). It was very interesting. Phani also read SrI dEvulapalli kRshNa sAstri gAri "mA vUru pOyiMdi" katha / vyAsaM. Later on PhaNi
read his own story "kAsipilli mAmma". All items were well received.

Miss. SridEvi presented a song written and composed by her mother. It was very nice.

Mementos were presented to the previous "padabaMdhaM" winners Sri Turaga Gopal & AparNa and to chi.Aravind.

The program ended with another song from "Amdhra kAhaLi" CD.

The feedback received for this event was excellent.

Thanks to Krishna Mohan Pinnamaneni and Bala Indurti for preparations.

Thanks to Adi Chinnathimma and Sridevi Dadithota for taking the event photos.

Thanks and Regards,
PhaNi DokkA
Literary Coordinator - TAMA 2005

Dear Telugu lovers of Atlanta,

Thank you for attending our first sAhitI sadassu of 2005.  See Image Gallery

About 25 people attended the sadassu. SrI nEmAni sOmayAjulu and SrI vENu dasigi presented their poems.

TAMA - Sahiti Sadassu - 5Smt. Laksmi vEdala, Smt. aruNa, sumIr nEmAni, SrI. RamEsh DuvvUri, SrI SudhAkar VallUripalli and SrI GOpal Turaga presented a few good songs. Sri rAo OlETi and PhaNi Dokka read their stories.

"sIsa padyAM" of SrI.nEmAni sOmayAjulu is really superb. SrI vENu daSigi's effort in translating vEmana padyAlu to English is commendable. It is very difficult to get to the heart of the poem's meaning (especially in vEmana padyAM, which speaks universal truth in a short poem), in only few lines. But SrI vEnu's translation is very good and caught the pulse of the original poem.

SrI OlETi rAvu's short story "dalInder" is hilarious.

SrI. ramesh duvvUri read an interesting article by SrI.koDavaTigaMTi kuTuMba rAvu gAru, written in the 40's. It is regarding the "Future Course of Indian Languages". The content is valid, even today.

PhaNi DokkA read a story by the same author (SrI.koDavaTigaMTi kuTuMba rAvu gAru) written in the 30's. The story was about how to get a template for a story, titled "sample story". It was well received by the audience.

Andy's Indian Grill has provided snacks & tea, which were equally good. We thank SrI guruvA reddy gAru for hosting this literary meet. We thank Viju Chiluveru for covering the event.

Thanks to Vice President SrI.Bala Indurti and President SrI PinnamanEni krishNamOhan for arranging this event and for their continued support for literary events.

Sri Turaga Gopal & AparNa and Sri Cherukumilli Srinivas & SyAmala have won the saMkrAMti "padabaMdhaM" contest. Congratulations to them. TAMA will mail their gifts soon.

See you all in the next meeting.

Thanks,
PhaNi DokkA, TAMA Literary Coordinator - 2005
